Oreo Cheesecake

(Click on photos for larger image)

What a delightful surprise! I got a text from my neighbor, Chris, that he has a giant tripod he didn't need and whether or not I wanted it. In exchange for the tripod, I baked him an oreo cheesecake. That's what he requested! He didn't want any variation of the cheesecake, just the classic cheesecake. (I also made him go to the store and get the things I didn't have... like cream cheese). I know, I know. Everyone (and their moms) should have cream cheese in their refrigerators at all time.

Thumbprint Cookies

These jam filled cookies are one of my favorites! Someone brought these cookies to our Christmas party and I had to make my own! I was too shy to ask this person for their recipe, so I found one from Land O'Lake Butter. :)

Diabetes Cookies

I attempt to end this year with a post so it doesn't seem like I was such a slacker. I present to you fatty butter and sugar cookies. This is the story of my end-of-the-year baking fuck up and how I give my friends diabetes for life!

Brownie Roll Out Cookies

20110618-DSC_4300

I've been baking a lot lately. I don't know why but I find baking simple cookies a relaxing activity. So when Helen sent me this brownie roll-out cookie recipe from Smitten Kitchen, I felt like I had to make it right away...because I was um..."stressed out" and needed some relaxing.

Brownie Cookies

20110527-DSC_3392

First, a little back story. I bragged to someone that I knew the reason why brownies have that nice flaky crust on the top while cakes don't. I said that it's because of the unbeaten egg whites (just stirred in and not beaten) float to the top of the batter and created that nice flaky crust. I should have known better than to brag without any back up of experimental data because that someone actually went and did research on brownie flaky top crust and found this article from The Kitchn.

Swirly Chocolate (Chip) Cookies

So here's a cookie that's all swirly with chocolate swirls. I hope you noticed that label of "misadventure" because these were supposed to be chocolate chip cookies and not these swirly cookies! D:

Garam Masala Oatmeal Cookies

20110505-DSC_2719

I was researching spices and ran into a recipe for Garam Masala Oatmeal Raisin Cookies on NPR. What do you know? I have just bought some garam masala so I decided to make it. Did you know that garam means heat and masala means spice mix? Well, now you know!

Coconut Tuiles

20100905-IMG_8685

Coconut tuile sounds so fancy and difficult, but after making them I will have to say that these are the easiest cookies ever! In fact, if you need to appear fancy pants for some parties, just make some coconut tuiles.

I got the recipe from Simple Recipes. Yeah, I wouldn't be a fan girl if I didn't use Elise's recipe now, would I?

Elise's Oatmeal Raisin Chocolate Chip Orange Pecan Cookies

cookies 2

If you haven't notice already, I have like a crazy girl crush on Elise at Simply Recipes. You can see that I made food from her blog all the time. As shown here and here and here, and here.

That's right, people, Elise herself commented on one of my posts. I was so stoked I almost peed my pants. Hahahha...not really, but really stoked nevertheless! But all of her recipes are so delicious and simple. Not only that, she's also from the greater Sacramento area, like me! Well, I'm not exactly from from Sacramento, but I lived there when I was 11 to 21 and still consider it home.

Okay, let me end the fan girl craze and move on to tell you about my adventure of making Elise's oatmeal raisin chocolate chip orange pecan cookies or as I like to call it my Out-of-everything cookies...Why? Well, you shall know...
