At first I wanted to make a portabello mushroom and cabbage soup because I just happen to have those things and I wanted soup. It somehow evolved to watching Maangchi make this Soon Dubu Jjigae, and then I wanted it so badly!

Potato-less New England Clam Chowder

You know what I hate? Potatoes in my clam chowder. Seriously! I always feel like I'm getting ripped off when I get a bowl full of potatoes with one or two clams, and because of that, I started to hate potatoes in my chowder. That delicious starchy vegetable has become a bane in my side, so I decided to get rid of it completely. You heard me right. Blasphemy.

Gordon Ramsay’s Shrimp & Angel Hair Pasta

The Chopping Block and I had a dinner party because we are old! She even wore a sweater! :O She made her avocado fries (see previous post here). I made Gordon Ramsay's pasta except I used penne and chicken instead. You can see Chef Ramsay making it on hulu here. There wasn't really a written recipe, so I just used what I thought were the right amounts. :| (I think I fed 6 hungry people.)

Gordon Ramsay's Fish Cakes

For those of you who don't know this, I am a huge fan of Gordon Ramsay. Why? Why not? The guy has enough angst to shame a teenager. Well of course, his recipes are also amazingly simple! Well, at least in his current books. I heard his older cookbooks are actually pretty complex and difficult. I found this fish cake recipe on-line from his show "The F Word," which I have to admit, I've only watched a couple of times while I was flying on Virgin America, and yes, that was a shameless plug for my favorite airline.

Squid Adobo

At the end of last year, I flew to Singapore with my little sister to meet up with my cousin who was going to school there. We flew Philippines Airline and they fed us a lot of adobo. It was either chicken or pork adobo and I must say, the pork adobo is my favorite. I know what you're thinking: airplane food, bleh! It's not "bleh" if it got me curious enough to note that I need to recreate the dish.
