Caramelized Onions, Mushroom, and Spinach Quiche



So you might think this is a break from the burger experiments, but I kid you not, I've been eating hamburgers non-stop. Last night I had a mushroom and caramelized onion burger. Yup. This morning I decided it would be a great idea to make a quiche with mushrooms and caramelized onions. This is my first quiche, and I didn't follow any recipes. Dave predicts that it will be disgusting. We'll show him!

Apple Tart



This week, my friend, Iva, and I decided to make this Apple Tart posted at Smitten Kitchen, an adaptation of Jacques Pepi's apple tart as documented by Alice Waters. I believe this apple tart is still served at Chez Panisse today, which I believe the Chopping Block has visited a couple of times, but maybe I'm wrong. Anyways, this was delicious. We served it with homemade vanilla creme en glaze and apple syrup.

Peach Pie

What do you do when someone gives you a bag of peaches? Munching on one or two peaches is fine, but what about the rest? You make peach pies, of course! Or peach galette! But if you really suck at making pie crusts like me, you would go with the pies and buy premade pie crusts!
