Hamburger

Okay, okay. What's so special about my hamburger? Well.... I think I've found the secret to making the best hamburgers like EVER. I make a lot of hamburgers because they're seriously easy. Shape them up, put them in the fridge, and when you're hungry, pop them onto the George Foreman grill! Done in like no time!

Gordon Ramsay's Fish Cakes

For those of you who don't know this, I am a huge fan of Gordon Ramsay. Why? Why not? The guy has enough angst to shame a teenager. Well of course, his recipes are also amazingly simple! Well, at least in his current books. I heard his older cookbooks are actually pretty complex and difficult. I found this fish cake recipe on-line from his show "The F Word," which I have to admit, I've only watched a couple of times while I was flying on Virgin America, and yes, that was a shameless plug for my favorite airline.

Lamb Curry

First off, I want to apologize to any Indian readers here (ahem Hiten) for butchering your food. This is the first time I've ever made an Indian dish (besides microwaving Trader Joe's awesome frozen Tikka Masala dishes). I went online and googled "indian lamb curry recipes" and got a lot of varying results, so in the end, I just kind of made threw whatever I wanted to in my Lamb Curry dish, which I think ended up pretty nicely.

Larb Gai

Day 31 Thursday 3/11/2010

I've eaten a lot of Thai food before, but never did I order any larb (salad). I want the most bang for my buck, so larbs rarely cross my mind when ordering. Making larb is a different story though, because it's so easy. I found the recipe for Larb Gai from Import Food.

Elise's Carrot Apple Cupcakes

Carrot apple cupcakes

Helen made me red velvet cupcakes and that started a whole series of cupcake cravings. Do you know how much is it for a cupcake? $3.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Three bucks for a cupcake? What a giant rip off, right? Right. So, I'm making my own cupcakes. I've never had carrot cake before, so what better way to experience the carrot cake by making my own carrot cupcakes.

Moussaka

Moussaka is kind of like a lamb & eggplant casserole, or so that's how I think of it. Recently I went to Kokkari and tried their Moussaka. I loved it so much I decided to come home and make my own. Of course, theirs is still like a billion times better than mine.

Balinese Fried Chicken

balinese fried chicken 2

Fried chicken wings. Who doesn't love fried chicken wings? There are so many variations: barbeque wings, buffalo wings, just plain old wings covered in batter, honey lemon wings, etc. I've always have crispy batter-less wings fried with fish sauce from my mom...because I'm Vietnamese unless you haven't noticed already. That can be the story for another day.

Honey Mint Lamb Chops

I recently bought myself a meat thermometer, and now I am a nonstop meat cooking machine! Before I bought a meat thermometer, I would butcher my meat by over cooking them ALWAYS. Well, not anymore! Okay, to be really honest, I've only used my meat thermometer once, and I'm not really a fan of poking my meat, BUT I have learned how to cook meat properly, so come along and follow me.

Fruit & Yogurt

Despite what it looks like, I've actually been doing a lot of cooking, but my disability* kicked in and prevented me from posting. This "recipe" is so easy that even my boyfriend can make it, and he is the worst cook in the world.

Squid Adobo

squid adobo 2

At the end of last year, I flew to Singapore with my little sister to meet up with my cousin who was going to school there. We flew Philippines Airline and they fed us a lot of adobo. It was either chicken or pork adobo and I must say, the pork adobo is my favorite. I know what you're thinking: airplane food, bleh! It's not "bleh" if it got me curious enough to note that I need to recreate the dish.
